Enugu First Lady Offers Free Medical Care to Less Privileged


Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, the First Lady of Enugu State Governor, has embarked on free medical treatments to communities across the 17 local government areas of the state aimed at assisting the dwellers, especially the under privileged to overcome some of their health challenges.
The exercise, according to Mrs. Ugwuanyi, is part of her pet project – Ugo Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF) designed to avail indigent members of the society, especially the women, children, aged and other vulnerable groups, access to adequate medical attention.
Speaking at the event at Ndeabor in Aninri Local Government Area, the Enugu Governor’s wife reiterated her commitment to the wellbeing of the less privileged, stating that the free medical exercise offers them the ample opportunity to access treatments against malaria, high blood pressure, eye problem, de-worming of children and other debilitating health challenges.
Mrs. Ugwuanyi, who used the occasion to empower the rural dwellers through provision of sewing machines, hairdryers, among other items to the beneficiaries of her skill acquisition programme, also presented school uniforms, bags, sandals and cash gifts.
She promised to sustain the programme to continue to render selfless service to the people, especially the lowly to impact positively on their lives and alleviate their sufferings, saying: “U-TOLF is an organization that is solely established to assist people selflessly”.




Noting that the tasks before the women are enormous and most times engender high maternal mortality, Mrs. Ugwuanyi stated that the challenges informed why she considered it necessary to assist the indigent and vulnerable women cope with their difficulties by providing them with free medical care services as well as training in skill acquisition.
The wife of the Governor therefore, enjoined the women not to be deterred by the challenges of life but remain steadfast, prayerful and supportive to their husbands to bring up their children in a good moral background for a better society.
