EU Doubles Nigeria Candidate For ERASMUS Scholarship


Despite the coronavirus pandemic which has almost affected every industry in the world, the European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS doubled the number of Nigerians selected for.
In a the virtual media briefing monitored by Grassroots.ng, the Head of the Delegation, Ambassador Ketil Karlsen disclosed this.
Ambassador Karlsen said the increase indicates the importance of Africa, and in particular, Nigeria and Nigerian youths to the EU, and the value of vital education to development.
About 93 Nigerians are beneficiaries of the 2020 EU Erasmus+ Scholarship, a considerable rise from the 44 awardees last year. Currently, Nigeria holds the highest number of beneficiaries of the scholarship from a single country in Africa, and presently among the six top countries globally, with the highest candidates for the scholarship
The Erasmus Programme is a European Union student exchange programme established in 1987. Erasmus+, or Erasmus Plus, is the new programme combining all the EU’s current schemes for education, training, youth and sport, which was started in January 2014
