Gov. Uzodinma Approves Quick Renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium

The renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri will resume today, September 18, 2020, the Government of Imo State has said.
The Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu revealed this at the end of his inspection tour of stadia facilities in the state on Thursday at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
He assured stakeholders that Dan Anyiam Stadium would be ready for use by the end of October this year.
“We have seen that there’s a lot of work to be done in all the stadia and we are starting particularly at Dan Anyiam Stadium tomorrow. Honestly, there’s no time to talk rather, we have to start work immediately, ” he said.
“We’ve discussed with the contractor and our hope is that he will deliver the stadium ready for use by the end of October this year as agreed,” Ogu added.
The commissioner said there was no need to continue lamentations on the deterioration of sports facilities in the state instead, the government led by Sen. Uzodinma prefers to tackle the problems he met on ground.
The Okigwe Township Stadium was the last to be inspected by the commissioner and his entourage having gone through Dan Anyiam Stadium, Sam Okwaraji Stadium and Orlu New Stadium the previous weeks.
“What we saw or met on ground at those places are nothing to write home about but we are not going to dwell on that for now. The athletes and football players need a stadium immediately to begin their own programmes so we must facilitate that,” he explained.
