Domestic Violence: Man Breaks Wife Lower Jaw, Damages Her Left Eye In Adamawa.


A Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa State has delivered a verdict on a father of five, Zakaria Waye, who allegedly broke his wife’s lower jaw and damaged her left eye during a quarrel.
Grassroots.ng gathered that the accused, who hails from Girei town in Girei LGA of the state, assaulted his wife, Ruth Zakaria, on Wednesday, August 25.
The victim, Ruth, could not talk when she was brought to court on Thursday, August 26, as she had undergone surgery to stitch and wire her broken jaw.
Zakaria, who is accused of constantly beating his wife, sometimes in the presence of their children, pleaded not guilty to the charges of causing a grievious hurt among other offences.
He told the court that his wife should be blamed for the trouble in the family, alleging that she held his private part hence he had to b*at her.
The court presided by Magistrate Abdulrazak Adamu, ordered that the accused be remanded at Yola Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to November 22, 2021, for mention.
