Why police closed third mainland bridge

The police have offered explanations on why it closed the Third Mainland Bridge. The explanation was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Chike Oti.
Oti said the bridge was temporarily shut to traffic on Sunday morning due to “Simulation Exercise” carried out by the National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Police and other agencies of government.
He added: “The objective of the exercise is to achieve a coordinated response among these agencies who are usually the first responders in emergency situations.”
Oti said the Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Edgar Imohimi, apologised to Lagosians for the inconveniences suffered while the exercise lasted.
Imohimi said the exercise was for common good.
Oti said with the exercise over, the bridge is now open to traffic.
