Senator Ike Ekweremadu, His Wife And Doctor Has Been Sentenced To Years in prison In The UK, After Being Found Guilty Of An Organ Harvesting Plot
Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been sentenced to 9 years and 8months in prison, after being found guilty of an organ harvesting plot.
His wife Beatrice was sentenced to 4 years 6 months And Obinna Obeta, The doctor who assisted them was sentenced to 10 years 6 months in prison.
The Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, UK, Did the sentencing.
Recall that on March 23, The court found Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, guilty of trafficking a trader from Nigeria to the UK to harvest his organ, A crime under the United Kingdom Modern Slavery act 2015.
The jury held that they conspired to bring the 21-year-old to London to exploit him of his kidney.
The verdict is the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the UK.
