ADC Returns to Federal High Court as Legal Battle Continues
| By: ISRAEL ORJI

Lawyers representing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are expected to appear today before the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Emeka Nwite, in a case challenging the Court’s jurisdiction over an ex parte motion filed by Mr. Nafiu Bala Gombe.
The ADC legal team is seeking the dismissal of the motion on the grounds that the Court lacks jurisdiction, citing provisions of Section 83(5) of the Electoral Act 2026.
Background to the Case
The party referenced previous rulings in similar matters, noting that on October 3, 2025, and March 6, 2026, the Federal High Court, through James Omotosho and Joyce Abdulmalik, dismissed a related suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/1331/2025) filed by Dumebi Kachikwu against the leadership of the party led by David Mark.
According to the ADC, these prior decisions reinforce its position on the matter currently before the court.
The party expressed confidence in the judicial process and called for a fair and impartial determination of the case in accordance with the law.
The African Democratic Congress is one of Nigeria’s opposition political parties, committed to democratic governance and national development.
