TETFUND contractor sentenced to 6 years in prison

One John Ojekorede Ojemuyiwa has been sentenced to a six-year jail term for stealing and giving of gratification to public officers.

Ojemuyiwa, alongside his company, Digitpro Engineering Technology Limited, were accused of fraudulently converting and diverting N300 million which was approved by TETFUND for sundry projects at the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun.

The Convict and his company were awarded a TETFUND contract for the construction of amphitheatre at the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun.

A count against them in court read: “Ojemuyiwa and Digitpro Technology Ltd., sometimes in February 2014 at Ila Orangun within the Osogbo judicial division, corruptly gave the sum of N43m to members of Governing Council, Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun, through one David Olayinka Olajede of De Capstone Ltd on account of the award of contract worth N228m.”

They faced a three-count charge for offences of stealing and giving of gratification to public officers.

They had pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were arraigned by the Ibadan Zonal office of the EFCC, on April 3, 2016.

Justice Akin-David Oladimeji of the Osun State High Court sitting in Ede, Osun State, however, found the convicts guilty on counts one and three of the charges.

Oladimeji found Ojemuyiwa and his company guilty and sentenced him to three years imprisonment each, which will run concurrently, on the two counts of the three charges. They were discharged and acquitted on count two. (PRNigeria)
