Awka Community Elects Fredrick Chinwuba New President General of Awka Development Union of Nigeria (ADUN)
Chief Fredrick Nwanneka Chinwuba has emerged as the new President General of Awka Development Union Nigeria (ADUN) during a keenly contested election which also saw the emergence of Chief Chris Obuekwe as the Deputy President General and Mr Augustine Hillary as the Publicity secretary.
According to Admin Nibo, other positions went unopposed during the election which was supervised by representatives of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Electoral committee and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Obiakor, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of both the contestants and delegates during the election which was conducted by open secret ballot system
The leader of the team from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Henry Nwasike described the election as peaceful and orderly and urged the new leadership of ADUN to work towards bringing lasting peace to Awka.
In an interview, a delegate, Chief Patrick Onuorah, described the outcome of the election as true reflection of the wish of the people and commended the electoral committee for a wonderful job.
In an acceptance speech after being sworn-in, the new President General of ADUN, Chief Chinwuba thanked Awka community for the confidence reposed in him and reassured of carrying everybody along.
